Alternative Hair Charitable Foundation

In 1983, hairdresser, Tony Rizzo, and his wife, Maggie, lost their first-born child, Valentino, to leukaemia at the tender age of 2 years and 7 month old. They decided to hit back at this vicious disease in the best way they knew: by engaging their many friends in hairdressing worldwide in an entirely new and audacious charity fundraising event
- The Alternative Hair Show. Staged at London’s Camden Theatre in October 1983 the Show was a huge success, raising an enormous £7,500, which was immediately donated to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, theUK’s leading blood cancer research charity.

Angel Hair Foundation

Our goal is to give the gift of feeling ordinary back to families in crisis. For weeks and months, children struggle to hold onto who they were before their cancer or medical condition Even on good days, a glance of their reflection reminds them: things are different. So, when a child cautiously picks up the mirror and sees her Angel Hair System for the first time, she doesn't see just a hairpiece.

I'm a Kid.org

I'm a Kid Foundation understands that hair loss of any kind is a major life altering disorder and can empathize with how traumatic the disease can affect the spirit of the children who suffer from it. Losing your hair suddenly is a very distressing experience, especially for a young child, and although a child may not have hair, they are still a child and need to feel "normal" and loved.
